Terms of Service

The terms governing the use of the Sakrebailu Elephant Camp website and online services.

About these terms

Acceptance of Terms

Sakrebailu Elephant Camp is a wildlife facility managed under the Karnataka Forest Department, with online services operated by Bhadra Tiger Conservation Foundation. By accessing this website, booking tickets, making a donation, or applying to adopt an elephant, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use these services.

Tickets

Bookings & Entry

Tickets purchased online, at the kiosk, or at the counter are valid only for the date booked and only for the named visitor count. Each ticket carries a unique QR code that is scanned once at the gate; duplicate or transferred tickets will not be honoured. The camp reserves the right to refuse entry where tickets are invalid, already used, or cannot be verified. Visit timings and activity availability (such as elephant bathing) are subject to the camp's operating hours and may change without notice.

Donations

Donations & Adoptions

Donations and elephant-adoption sponsorships support elephant care, veterinary services, mahout welfare, and camp maintenance. Adoption applications are subject to verification and approval by the Karnataka Forest Department; submitting an application does not guarantee approval. Adoption does not confer ownership, possession, or any legal rights over an elephant — it is a symbolic sponsorship of the animal's care for the chosen period.

Payments

Payments & Pricing

All prices are listed in Indian Rupees (INR). Online payments are processed through a secure third-party payment gateway; the camp does not store your card or banking details. A booking, donation, or adoption is confirmed only after payment is successfully verified. In the rare event of a payment being debited without confirmation, please contact the camp office with your transaction reference and the matter will be reconciled.

Refunds

Refund & Cancellation

All payments — tickets, donations, and adoption fees — are final and non-refundable. Please review our Refund & Cancellation Policy for full details before completing any payment.

Conduct

Visitor Conduct

Visitors must follow all instructions from camp staff and mahouts, maintain a safe distance from the elephants unless supervised, and refrain from feeding, teasing, or disturbing the animals. The camp is not liable for injury, loss, or damage arising from a visitor's failure to follow safety instructions. Photography is permitted for personal use; commercial filming requires prior written permission.

Liability

Limitation of Liability

The camp may close on a visitor's booked date due to weather, administrative reasons, animal welfare, or circumstances beyond its control. In such cases, visitors will be contacted by camp staff and resolution is at the sole discretion of the Karnataka Forest Department. To the extent permitted by law, the camp's total liability is limited to the amount paid for the affected service.

Changes & Law

Changes & Governing Law

These terms may be updated from time to time; the current version always governs your use of the services. These terms are governed by the laws of India, and any disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts at Chikkamagaluru / Shivamogga, Karnataka.
