Our Mission
Protect. Nurture. Educate. The three pillars that guide every decision we make.
The Sakrebailu Elephant Camp exists to protect, nurture, and study Karnataka's resident elephants — and to use the knowledge gained to mitigate human-elephant conflict across the state.
Our mission integrates traditional mahout wisdom with modern wildlife science, producing kumki elephants that are deployed across Karnataka's forest divisions for rescue and conflict resolution operations.
What We Do
Rescue & Rehabilitation
We rescue injured wild elephants and orphaned calves. Veterinary care, nutrition, and trained mahouts bring them back to health and a safe life at the camp.
Eco-Tourism
Visitors meet the elephants, watch the morning bath, and walk along the Tunga. Every ticket directly supports the camp's daily care and conservation work.
Education
School groups, students, and travellers learn about elephant biology, behaviour, habitat, and why conservation matters — guided by our mahouts and educators.
Research
The Karnataka Forest Department and partner scientists study elephant health, behaviour, and human-elephant conflict here, improving conservation outcomes across the state.
Our Partners
We collaborate with the Karnataka Forest Department, Wildlife Institute of India, local veterinary teams, and district administrations across Shivamogga, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru and beyond.
